Oscar-nominated director, John Singleton, passed away today; after being taken off life-support following a stroke.
Singleton is best known for his films Boyz n the Hood, Poetic Justice, Baby Boy and more.
He also directed music videos, like Michael Jackson's iconic Remember The Time.
To honor Singleton's work, this week's throwback is dedicated to him.
Since Mr. Kardashian.... aka Kanye West has been making some questionable moves lately....
I thought I'd dedicate this week's throwback to a man from Kim's past, TJ Jackson.
TJ and Kim were high school sweethearts and he was in an R&B group with his brothers.
The group was called 3T and featured TJ, Taj and Taryll Jackson. They're all Tito's kids.
This song Why, features their famous Uncle Michael.
When we talk about Michael Jackson, we mention all of his great videos like Remember the Time, Thriller, Beat It, Bad, etc.
However, why don't we talk more about In the Closet off of the Dangerous album?
This uber sexy video was directed by Herb Ritts and stars supermodel, Naomi Campbell, has MJ's love interest.I was first introduced to it when I was like 7 years old, and I didn't understand wtf was going on. But as an adult, I totally appreciate it!
They bump & grind along along, what looks like a ranch or Mission, in Salton Sea, CA and the cinematography is gorgeous! This video ended up being banned in South Africa for its highly sexual content.
The song is great too and features Princess Stephanie of Monaco (say what? yup!). That part was kept a secret for a while. Homegirl did try her hand at music, but just didn't work. Allegedly, Madonna was supposed to do the female vocals, but Jackson passed on it.
So, let's take this Monday to appreciate this video.
So much is going on in our world right now and we just need to heal and come back to love.
Usually I'm not this into my feelings on the blog, but my day job is in news and covering the tragedy in Las Vegas last week and the devastating fires in the Bay Area today, I feel this is the musical hug we all need.
As we remember the victims and the brave souls on the 16th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, this song comes to mind considering the world we're currently in.
May we never forget those on 9/11 and keep in our hearts those victims of Hurricane Harvey and Irma and everyone else.
Just 3 months after the couple welcomed their son, Eissa, Janet Jackson has split from her husband, Qatari businessman, Wissam Al Mana.
The pair tied the knot in 2012 and announced it to the public a year later.
This is the 3rd marriage for Jackson.
Rumors are swirling that Al Mana was too controlling over the relationship and didn't like when Janet, Miss Jackson if you're nasty, wore too little during her performances and wanted her to tone down her typical sexual dance moves.
41 year old Al Mana reportedly was the one who wanted Jackson 51, to be more reclusive and wanted the family to live under strict rules while in London while Jackson was nursing their son.
The "last straw" according to Page Six "was her husband’s reluctance to show concern for Katherine Jackson’s elder abuse claims against her nephew Trent."
TMZ is reporting that the timing of the marriage may have prenup implications.
Both Janet and Wissam Al Mana are wealthy, but he far more than she. He has an estimated net worth of $1 billion. She's worth an estimated $175 mil.
Janet, who had a prenup with husband #2 Rene Elizondo, almost certainly had a prenup with Al Mana. Such prenups are typically structured -- so the longer the marriage, the bigger the settlement.
Prenups typically have 5 and 10 year marks, which trigger more money in the pot to be divided. Janet announced in February, 2013 that she had gotten married a year earlier. Given the date of her reported separation from Al Mana, it seems to be almost exactly at the 5 year mark of marriage.
The couple just had a baby in January, which may also have prenup implications.

A big congrats goes out to Shahs of Sunset star Asa Soltan Rahmati and her boo Jermaine Jackson Jr (yes, Michael's nephew) on the birth of their son.
The reality star and Persian Pop Priestess gave birth to son Soltan Jackson on January 20th. The kaftan-designer took to Instagram to describe her joy:
Lovers. We gave birth to our precious son on January 20th 2017. His name is Soltan Jackson and we are completely in Love with him. Mami, Baby, and Daddy are all doing well. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your well wishes and prayers. We are literally in heaven with our precious Soltan. ❤️
I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan and it warms my heart and soul that his camp has come out with a posthumous album from the King of Pop.
What's also awesome is that his album Xscape features so many great artists, like Justin Timberlake.
I love this song and this video.
This video is hilarious, because I find the collaboration between Michael and Paul strangely phenomenal...and also the fact that Michael's love interest in the video is LaToya....yes...Michael's sister.
Woof.
Today would have been Michael Joseph Jackon's 52nd birthday.

It's crazy to think that he was only 50 years old when he passed.
Who would have imagined that 52 years ago, that little newborn baby would have changed the face of music and the entertainment game in a matter of years.
It's so sad that he's no longer with us today. I can only imagine who he could have collaborated with for future tracks. I would have loved to hear him collaborate with Lady Gaga. Even though Gaga has said the two did a song together, it would only be special if Jackson were alive today. Happy Birthday, Michael! We Miss You!
