You Get on My Damn Nerves

I've never really been a fan of sappy break-up songs.

Especially if I'm in the middle of one, they always make me feel worse.

My go-to for post-break-up music is hardcore rap/hip-hop because nothing makes me feel better than a beat that slaps as well as lyrics that talk about getting back on the grind and not giving a motha (shut your mouth) about what others say. Basically, it just reiterates the fact that you have to just do you.
What I should say is: I do have a soft spot for the love ballads but it just depends on my mood.

And no, Around the Bay Gal isn't going through a break-up right now, she's trying to just make a point here.

I discovered this new little gem by Ne-Yo and Jazmine Sullivan, U Get on my Nerves.

It's the perfect break-up song because while listening to it you feel....HAPPY!

Besides, I find it a refreshing change from Sullivan's other songs.
I wonder who the guy was who did her wrong because she sings about heartbreak in almost all of her singles.

As a co-worker of mine said once, "I don't know who did that girl (Jazmine) wrong, but she needs to get over it!"

It's understandable that artists gain inspiration for their music from their life-experiences, but Sullivan is ALWAYS singing about how she's been given the short-end of the stick. It's nice to hear a song where she's OVER the guy.

What do YOU think?

Is the Queen Bee Back? FINALLY!

The holiday season is now officially underway. I hope all of you had a Happy Thanksgiving. Of course, I wrote in my journal what I'm thankful for this year, and one of them is hip-hop music, and Lil' Kim reiterated that.

Kim FINALLY has come out with music, okay it's a diss to Nicki Minaj, but still. The point is she's doing it through her music this time, not during interviews.

Take a listen to Black Friday.
I have a feeling Kim's been patiently waiting to release this track the week of Nicki's "Pink Friday" album release.

This track is retaliation for Nicki's song with Eminem, Roman's Revenge.
....and I love that song too.

After taking a listen (to both songs),  I remembered:
1.) What real hip-hop is.
2.) Why I love this genre of music, because they showcase their beefs through their music well, most of the time.

Which song do YOU prefer?

Do you think the Original Queen of Hip-Hop is back?

Throwback Monday!

I used to la-la-love the Fugees back in 5th and 6th grade. So when I started up Throwback Mondays, I had to include this classic from the Fu!

Enjoy!

A Very Gaga Halloween

Channeling my inner-Gaga this Halloween was so much fun. By far the most fun I've had compared to costumes of Halloween-past when I've been Snow White, Queen of Hearts and Pizazz from the Misfits. Many people wanted to get a picture with little ol' me, and I can't say that I wasn't flattered.

Right before I left the house.

I worked really hard on my costume. My jacket took about 10 hours to bedazzle and studd-up.
Of course, time went by fast because I was watching Game One of the World Series.

My good friend, Miss Sandoval did my makeup and helped me with my wig. My head was a little too big for the wig, so we improvised. My natural hair would peak through like roots.

"Hello, hello baby you called I can't hear a thing!"
Esmerelda, Gaga, Princess Jasmine(s) and a french painter

My favorite for the night!
I think I looked pretty close to the original Gaga.
Well, as close as I could've been.

My friends and I celebrated our Halloween Eve (because the actual holiday was on a Sunday this year, boo!) by gallivanting around the City making friends with Ninja Turtles and Katy Perrys.

I can't believe November's in full-swing!
I always feel a bit melancholy when Halloween and my Birthday are over then I think....
Wait a minute!! The holidays are here!

What do YOU have planned for the upcoming holiday season?

Go Shawty It's Yo Birthday!

Okay, so my birthday was actually on thursday November 4th.

But hey, close enough, right?

This however, is a special birthday because your's truly turned the big 2-5!

Since this is an Around the Bay Gal post....I have to include that Lil' Wayne was released from jail on my BIRTHDAY!

I think that's a sign!

Four years ago when I turned 21, I couldn't have fathomed being 25. I had no idea where I'd be or what I'd be doing.

Man, those 4 years went by fast!

I read a quote a few days ago and it went something like this:

You are exactly where you're supposed to be

That quote can't ring anymore true.

Life tends to move very fast, and before you know it you're older, possibly in a place mentally and physically you never thought you'd be. Sometimes that's a good thing, other times...it's depressing.

Hopefully it's not the latter.

No matter what your beliefs are just know that you are exactly where your supposed to be at this given moment.

If you're like me and believe in the man upstairs....just know...His plan is greater than any one of ours.

And...I'm done!

Don't worry I have birthday and Halloween pics coming shortly.
