Throwback Monday

I'm finally fulfilling my New Year's resolution and going to Miami! I've never been and have been wanting to go since I started crushing on The Rock in the late 90's. So, to honor this occasion here's some OG Ricky Rozay.

Brangelina Are Over: Angelina Jolie Files for Divorce

via TMZ

WOW!
None of us saw this coming.
According to TMZ, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce on September 15th, 2016 after being married for a little over two years.
The couple finally tied the knot in August of 2014. They've been together since 2005. As you all remember the couple made headlines because Jolie and Pitt met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith while Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston.
Brad and Jennifer eventually divorced, and Brangelina was formed with a gaggle of children with them.
The couple of six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox.
TMZ says the reason for the divorce was due to a conflict over the kids.

Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt and the trigger was a conflict over the kids, substance abuse and anger ... TMZ has learned.
Jolie filed legal docs Monday citing irreconcilable differences.
She's asking for physical custody of the couple's 6 children. She is asking the judge to give Pitt visitation. It's significant ... she does not want Brad to have joint physical custody ... only joint legal custody.
Sources connected with the couple tell us ... Angelina's decision to file has to do with the way Brad was parenting the children ... she was extremely upset with his methods.
Our sources say, Angelina became "fed up" with Brad's consumption of weed and possibly alcohol, and mixed with what she believes is "an anger problem" ... felt it became dangerous for the children.
We're told there was no alleged "third person" ... her decision to file was solely over Brad's interaction with their children.
Jolie, who's being repped by disso queen Laura Wasser, is not asking for spousal support.
Jolie lists the date of separation as Sept. 15, 2016.
They married in August 2014. They've been together since 2004.
The last time we saw them together was in July when they took the twins, Knox and Vivienne, out for a birthday breakfast in West Hollywood.

Confessions of a Beauty Product Junkie: The Examiner.com Shuts Down

Back in July, the Examiner.com shut down.
However, I will continue to write about beauty products via this blog.
So, please stay tuned as I will always have a love for beauty products and the like.
I'm in the middle of re-vamping that portion of the blog, but it should be ready soon.

Thank you for your patience.

50 Cent Trolls Diddy and Ciroc

Instagram: @50cent
mp3waxx.com

Everyone's favorite social media troll is at it again.
50 Cent took to instagram to slam Diddy's Ciroc vodka claiming fans of the drink have been played.
Ciroc is made from grapes, whereas 50's Effen vodka is made from wheat. Traditionally vodka is made from cereal grains or potatoes.

Disclaimer:
Personally, due to Circo being made my grapes and me always *trying* to be paleo...this fits in my diet. However, I'm terrible at choosing alcohol.
NYE 2012 dubbed "Ciroc Queen" by friends bc they gave out tiaras.
Here's 50 aka Ferrari F-50 going in on the gram.

Kanye West on Instagram

We all love to hate him on Twitter and now Kanye West has finally joined Instagram.
Having only been on the social media website for two days and with only one photo, Yeezy already has 1 million followers.
Of course, the one and only photo he's shared is obscure art.

I want to see the selfies, 'Ye!
Will this give his wife a run for her selfie money?

So, does this mean he's got his phone back?
Remember he got rid of it to let his creative juices continue to flow.

Kim Kardashian West Puts Wall St Journal On Blast for Ad Denying Armenian Genocide

Kim Kardashian West is proving she's more than just a pretty face and nipples .
The reality star wrote a blog entry on her website back in April and it was re-printed as a part of a full ad in Friday's New York Times. The ad was paid for by the Armenian Educational Foundation  to address the Armenian Genocide after the Wall Street Journal had an ad back in April that denied it. With the headline #STRAIGHTUP, Kim talks about how the Wall Street Journal's ad was paid for by the Turkic Platform, a pro-Turkey group,  and that it denies the genocide ever took place and blames the Armenians for the killings.

kimkardashianwest.com

#STRAIGHTUP
Money talks, and right now it's talking shit.
My family and I are no strangers to BS in the press. We've learned to brush it off. Lies make good headlines, good headlines make great covers, great covers sell magazines. But when I heard about this full-page ad that ran in the Wall Street Journal denying the Armenian genocide, I couldn't just brush it off.
The ad was paid for by Turkic Platform. I won't list the group's website, as I don't want to give them the traffic, but basically they say that not as many people died as historians say, and that the Armenians were to blame.
For the Wall Street Journal to publish something like this is reckless, upsetting and dangerous. It's one thing when a shitty tabloid profits from a made-up scandal, but for a trusted publication like WSJ to profit from genocide—it's shameful and unacceptable. Why is it that every time we take one step forward, we take two steps back?
Gawker asked the Wall Street Journal why they would run an ad like this. Their response was: "We accept a wide range of advertisements, including those with provocative viewpoints. While we review ad copy for issues of taste, the varied and divergent views expressed belong to the advertisers."
Advocating the denial of a genocide by the country responsible for it—that's not publishing a "provocative viewpoint," that's spreading lies. It's totally morally irresponsible and, most of all, it's dangerous. If this had been an ad denying the Holocaust, or pushing some 9/11 conspiracy theory, would it have made it to print?

Many historians believe that if Turkey had been held responsible for the Armenian genocide, and reprimanded for what they did, the Holocaust may not have happened. In 1939, a week before the Nazi invasion of Poland, Hitler said, "Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?" We do. We must. We must talk about it until it is recognized by our government because when we deny our past, we endanger our future. When we allow ourselves to be silenced by money, by fear and by power, we teach our children that truth is irrelevant. We have to be responsible for the message we pass on to our children. We have to honor the TRUTH in our history so that we protect their future. We have to do better than this.

Here's the ad in the Wall Street Journal which was in their April 20th paper:
The ad contains a link to a website called  Fact Check Armenia which basically denies that the Armenian genocide ever took place.
If you're unfamiliar with the Armenian Genocide, here's a brief description from History.com
In 1915, leaders of the Turkish government set in motion a plan to expel and massacre Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire. Though reports vary, most sources agree that there were about 2 million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire at the time of the massacre. By the early 1920s, when the massacres and deportations finally ended, some 1.5 million of Turkey’s Armenians were dead, with many more forcibly removed from the country. Today, most historians call this event a genocide–a premeditated and systematic campaign to exterminate an entire people. However, the Turkish government does not acknowledge the enormity or scope of these events. Despite pressure from Armenians and social justice advocates throughout the world, it is still illegal in Turkey to talk about what happened to Armenians during this era.

Back in 2015, Kim, Khloe, Kanye, North and some "K" named Kardashian brethren went to visit their Motherland for the first time. You can watch a re-cap here.

Throwback Monday

I'm lucky to see the Summer Sixteen tour this weekend! So, it's only fitting I choose a Drake oldie. However, this one got me in my feelings as YMCMB is kind of a mess right now. Who would've thought 7 years later from this song Birdman and Weezy wouldn't be talking?
Sad.

Know Young M.A. and Listen to "OOOUUU"

Young M.A.'s IG@hennynhoes

You may have heard it on the radio, at the club or on Beyonce's instagram.
OOOUUU is the song of the summer and if you haven't heard it, you better get on it.
It reminds me a lot of Bobby Shmurda's Hot Ni**a. With the beat and the sirens blowing, it is reminiscient of the 2014 hit, but like this article on Inverse says, Young M.A.'s got bars.

So who is she?
M.A. stands for me always. Hailing from Brooklyn, M.A. is from the Bed-Stuy neighborhood once home to Biggie, HOV and Lil' Kim. The 24 year old credits 50 Cent as her earliest rap influence. M.A. claims she's been rapping since she was 9 years old.
Right now she's not signed to a major label, but I'm pretty sure this is going to be happening soon. She's a female rapper on the way to killing the game from both the males and females, which offers a fresh perspective rap fans haven't heard in a while.

Britney Spears Wants to Collaborate with Ex-Justin Timberlake

lovelace media

In an interview with Most Requested Live with Romeo, Britney was asked which artists she would like to collaborate with, from there she gave an answer that has made headlines ever since.

"Aerosmith seems really good and bright. He's a genius I think. He's very rock n' roll. He sings from the soul. Gwen Stefani, I think she's great." Then she goes on to say the one line we've all been hoping for, for 15 years "Justin Timberlake is very good."
Now I do have my thoughts on this.
Did Britney forget that she has already light-weight collaborated with Aerosmith before giving us all life during the Super Bowl in 2001? Sure, it wasn't a song but they have worked together. Also, does Britney realize what she said about Timberlake? I'm convinced she's forgotten they've dated.
Meanwhile, when news broke to JT that his ex was interested in doing music together he was down. Actually, he seemed really flattered and excited.
When E!' News' Marc Malkin "She did? Sure! Absolutely, absolutely.  I have a 17 month old so I don't get the headline news. I apologize for not being in the know…I'm accessible, give us a call!"
Sounds like Justin has been dying to get this news for years!
Of course, I would love to see this happen but I have my doubts. I could definitely see this Britney-Gwen thing happening and would love it if it could.

My Time as a Guest on 95.7 The Game's Franco & Kags Podcast

In early July I got the great opportunity to be a guest on the Franco & Kags podcast.
Gianna Franco and Anna Kagarakis are two bad ass women who know their sports and pop-culture and joined forces for the perfect podcast for men and women alike. They're also just great people!
A while ago Gianna approached me to be a guest and to talk about where professional athletes are vacationing this summer. Being the Instagram stalker that I am, I jumped when this opportunity came up.

Thanks for having me on the show, ladies!

It's a Girl for Rob Kardashian and Black Chyna

On the premier episode of Rob & Chyna on E! Sunday night, it was all about the Kardashian gender reveal.
Of course, in the episode Rob wanted a boy (like most fathers) and Chyna, already having a boy King Cairo with Rob's sister's boyfriend Tyga, wanted a girl.
Alas, Kardashian is just destined to be surrounded by women when he finds out the baby is another Kardashian female!
Congrats guys!

Beyonce's Dance Captain Gets the Ultimate Marriage Proposal

If this isn't a proposal goal, I don't know what is.
At the St. Louis performance on her Formation World Tour, Beyonce helped orchestrate the ultimate marriage proposal for her dance captain, Ashley Everett and her fiance John Silver.
While performing Single Ladies  onstage, Bey interrupts the performance and calls backup dancer, Silver, to the stage.
Dressed in a suit, he expresses his love for Everett calling her his Queen.
From there he puts a ring on it.
Bey tries to congratulate the couple, but realizes it's a little too soon and slyly walks away.
She then finds the right opportunity, congratulates the future Mr. and Mrs. Silver, then they get back to bidness.
Congrats John and Ashley!

Throwback Monday

I've been blessed to see the Formation World Tour a second time on Saturday, so to honor this momentous occasion.
Also, I wanted to honor Usher having his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
If you didn't know, Usher is in this video. LOL.

RIP Hiddleswift

wennermedia.com

Welp, that didn't last long.
I'm sure we'll get a song about this one soon enough and Tom will join the Taylor Haters Club soon with Calvin, Katy and Kimye.
After three months together, Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have called it quits according to People magazine.
Even though reps from both camps say the split was amicable, we all know better.

The couple's romance caught everyone's attention after the pair was seen cupcaking on the beach on June 15th, thus causing Swift's ex Cavlin Harris to develop his own revenge body. Hiddleswift got together not long after Harris and Swift broke up.

Reports say Hiddleston and Swift met at the Met Gala back in May while they had a hot and sweaty dance-off...I believe Swift was with Harris at the time.

Beyonce Celebrates 35th Birthday Soul Train Style

USWeekly
Well, if this isn't the party of all parties then I don't know what is.

After killing the MTV VMAs and then making an appearance at the Made in America festival in Philly, all while on the 3rd leg of her Formation World Tour; Beyonce had time to celebrate herself.
Queen Bey turned 35 on Sunday and celebrated with a star-studded birthday party in NYC on Monday night.
However, this wasn't just any ordinary party.
Beyonce threw a Soul Train themed party and of course, everyone was decked out.
Everyone who was every one was there.
Diddy, Cassie, Chance the Rapper, Swizz Beatz, bare-faced Alicia Keys, top models, Usher, etc.
Bey killed it with a sequined jumpsuit while the fellas (looking at you Diddy) brought out the wigs and psychedelic colors.

Of course the Birthday Queen killed it on the dancefloor.

Little Blue Blue got on the mic to wish her mommy a Happy Birthday and melted the crowd.

DrakeWatch: Drake Releases Video for "Child's Play: and Stars Tyra Banks

Tyra is my spirit sister in this music video. How many of you ladies have loved to mush some cake in your triflin' man's face!? How about then pouring wine over him while clinking cheers using his forehead and the wine glass you used to pour said liquor all over him.
This is exactly what happens in Drake's video for his song Child's Play off of his Views album.
This video is, I guess, one of the many that will be featured in the Views film Please Forgive Me  Drizzy alluded to here.
Regardless, I like the video and the song even more.

Throwback Monday

On Sunday, not only was it the Queen, Beyonce Knowles Carter's birthday. It was also the 10 year anniversary of her B Day album.
The album that brought us all so much life we're still singing those lyrics. I remember Ring the Alarm was the first single but I'm ashamed to admit I wasn't really feeling that single. It wasn't until more singles came out like Upgrade U , Deja Vu, Irreplacable, and Get Me Bodied came out that I started to like the album.

When I was Taken Back to 2002: My Night with JA Rule and Ashanti

My Friday night was like no other, I went back in time.
I went back to a place where North Carolina blue sneakers were in fashion, cornrows were the preferred hairstyle of choice, one may or may not have worn a piece of white tape under their left eye and throwback jerseys were just coming on to the scene.

When my friend asked me if I wanted to see JA Rule and Ashanti when they come into town I was apprehensive, I haven't heard a song I liked from either one in almost 10 years. Sure, the tickets were $45 but did i want to waste the money on a good outfit on Murder Inc's two heavy hitters?

YES!

Even though it was 2016, it felt like I was back in high school.
Jeffrey Atkins and Ashanti Douglas performed in San Francisco's at the Warfield Theater Friday night for the Bay Area's leg of their Heavy Hitters tour and they actually surpassed my expectations.
They both looked great!

They even had a SnapChat Filter!
They performed their hits like Baby, Mesmerize, I'm Real, Holla Holla, Can I Get A, Rain on Me, Foolish, Put It On Me, etc.

The only thing I wasn't too keen on was the Great America 1997 music videos of the pair playing in the background. I don't know if Irv Gotti has control of their original music videos, but they should've been playing those instead.
Regardless, I was pleasantly surprised by the show and it was great for the nostalgia.
