Anything for Selenas!

Since I was in Miami when the MAC's Selena makeup line was on sale online, I was determined to cop at least a lipstick from the special edition collection.
After work I stopped by my local Macy's to see if I could snag something, and luckily the line wasn't so bad.
The only things that were left were the three lipsticks: Como La Flor, Amor Prohibido and Dreaming of You and the bronzer. In line you were given a number and then a MAC girl was there to take your order, I was only allowed to buy one of each and if I wanted to more, I had to go back in line.
I ordered one of each.

Before you judge, it wasn't all for me. I stopped at the department store on my way to my hair appointment. Since my stylist is one of my BFFs, I got the bronzer and Como La Flor for her, while I kept the other two shades. Remember, I was lucky just to get one lipstick?

I was joking with friends that I was the only East-Indian in line for this, but it didn't matter to me. Yes, I wasn't aware of Selena's greatness when she was alive. Yes, I wasn't a fan until the movie starring Jennifer Lopez opened my eyes to Selena's talent and beauty.
However, I did understand why this was such a moment for fans of hers, especially the ones who have been riding with her since day 1.
This line all started when Selena fans started an online petition in 2015 asking the makeup giant to honor the late-Tejano superstar.

Months later, MAC answered the call and announced the makeup would debut in October of 2016. The line worked closely with Selena's sister, Suzette, to make sure the line embodied her sister.

While I was in line I couldn't help BUT get emotional, especially when they started blasting her music from the speakers, because this was such a huge moment for a star whose life was taken way too soon. It's incredible this happened 21 years after her untimely death.

I'm sure she was definitely smiling down on this entire event to know that all of her fans still love her and that she has gained some new ones since she left earth. 

What also touched me is her sister's instagram post on the day of the in-store launch.

Back in July, the Examiner.com shut down.
However, I will continue to write about beauty products via this blog.
So, please stay tuned as I will always have a love for beauty products and the like.
I'm in the middle of re-vamping that portion of the blog, but it should be ready soon.

Confessions of a Beauty Product Junkie: Kat Von D Vs Jeffree Star

Okay, so a little drama in the MUA world.
Of course, I know Kat Von D from her LA Ink fame and Jeffree Star from social media. If you don't know, he's an androgynous make-up maven, singer and social media star who became famous through MySpace and now has a booming cosmetic line.

I guess they've been besties, but now Kat's had enough.
Kat says:
After years of making excuses for, and rationalizing Jeffree's inappropriate behavior (including, promoting drug use, racism, and bullying) I can no longer hold my tongue after recent events. I know that over the years, many of you were introduced to Jeffree through me, and regardless if you chose to continue to follow him or not, I just would like to disassociate myself from him and his brand from this point on. I plan on posting a video explanation as to why I felt compelled to make such a statement. But for the time being, I simply want to apologize to anybody and everybody who has ever had to deal with any of his negativity. And yes, with a heavy heart, I will be pulling the shade "Jeffree" from my collection. Sending extra love to everyone out there.

She posted an explanation getting us warmed up on Facebook and Instagram, then made a YouTube video explaining her side of the story.




Of course, Jeffree didn't stay quiet and took to Twitter to give his take:

Then, Vancouver beauty blogger Julie "Princess Joules" Vu went on YouTube to give her take...which

wasn't so positive for Jeffree. Well, basically she's mad that she DM'd him on Instagram mentioning how she's endorsed his products in the past but he never gave her the kudos she deserved. 

Then to which Jeffree responded via Twitter.....


Jeffree is no stranger to beef, He's had infamous feuds with Kylie Jenner's lipkit and with Beauty Blogger Makeup Shayla.

Is it me, or does all this drama seem unnecessary? Couldn't Kat and Jeffree hashed this out in private?
I don't think Joules needed to chime in either. -____-

On Wendesday June 22nd, edgy makeup brand Urban Decay launched a limited-time SnapChat lens promoting their largest lipstick launch. Vice Lipstick is the brand's new lipstick line with 100 shades in six different finishes.
Since going through 100 shades of lipstick would be overwhelming for a consumer, Urban Decay has launched their very own app to try on the shades.

On Monday the Kardashian and Jenner sisters (well, except for Kourtney and Rob) released their own websites and apps. Sure, you have to pay $3 but you get insider tips into their lives.
Who am I kidding? I'm going to buy it...I need a body like Khlo's and a face like Kim (well, her makeup).

Lately I've been approached by natural skin care lines for story coverage and may I say it's opened my eyes to a whole new realm of beauty products.
Ayelet Meshulam's story is unique. She is a former chef, who developed an auto-immune disease that left her with severe allergies and skin irritations. Since nothing she tried worked, she developed her own products using her culinary skills.
