Throwback Monday

Nicki Minaj was probably in Jr. High School when this song came out. Long before her claims of being Barbie.

Nicki Minaj Debuts "Stupid Hoe" music video

Once Nicki revealed the release date of her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, I got really excited....until: Roman in Moscow and Stupid Hoe were released as singles and she pushed back the release date from February to April.

When I first heard Stupid Hoe, I knew right away it was shots fired at Lil' Kim. The song starts off cool, then just gets plain boring. Repeating Stupid Hoe over 100 times in a 3-4min track just sounds like an elementary school-jump-rope-song or a song you made up on the fly while trying to diss your high school enemy....not a single off of your second album!
After listening to this track, no wonder people are saying good music is dying. I prefer Big Sean's "Dance A$$" over this horrid song.

Then Nicki released the video collaborating with Hype Williams.....a stupid video to match an even more stupid song. I just don't get the concept. It seems like the YMCMB team wasted their baby money on this one.
C'mon, Nicki! Stop selling out. Produce a quality hip-hop album.....not watered-down pop!
At one point in the video Minaj is in a cage and kind of resembles the Queen Bee, but all in all....the entire video is lame.

I'm just getting really tired of Nicki's over-the-top looks. It's getting old. She does look pretty in the video. However, for a Hype Williams joint....this video doesn't look like it took much creativity or money to make.

Sorry, Nicki. I just keep getting disappointed by you.

Since I couldn't find the correct link to the No No No No pt. 2 video this video was my next best choice.

Niners in Paris

The Bay Area is ready to shine this weekend for the NFC play-offs with the S.F. Niners vs. the N.Y. Giants. Here's hoping the niners make it to the Super Bowl!

Baydestrian, Ashkon Davaran, the guy who made the S.F. Giants rally song back in late-2010 has returned for a song reppin' the 49ers.

Getting Turned On by Nicki Minaj and David Guetta

A couple of days ago I was driving and a fist-pumping, house song came out. I whipped out my iPhone and scrolled to my Shazam app to find out who the artist was and to my shock it was....Nicki Minaj!
Nicki?! But this sounds like a pop song!
I couldn't believe it, I assumed it was an up and coming pop start or Cascada or something....but not Nicki Minaj-Nicki Lewinsky-Nicki the Harajuku Barbie.

I must say I prefer this song over her single Stupid Hoe.
I have this love-hate relationship with Nicki..and I'm lovin' Turn Me On! I find it cool how diverse her musical palate is...but am over the tired look of hideous wigs and outfits.

No More B*tches for Hov

Tumblr.com

Since the birth of the Notorious B.I.C. Jigga-Man has decided to make some changes...one of them....dropping the word bitch from his rhymes.
Jay says:

"Before I got in the game, made a change, and got rich,/ I didn't think hard about using the word B—-./ I rapped, I flipped it, I sold it, I lived it/now with my daughter in this world/ I curse those that give it./ I never realized while on the fast track/ that I'd give riddance to the word bitch, to leave her innocence in tact./ No man will degrade her, or call her out her name/ the women won't despise her and call her the same./ I know it's gonna miss me/ cuz we been together like Nike Airs and crisp tees/ when we all used to hang out front/ singing 99 problems but a lady ain't one./ Excuse me miss, can I be your mister/ cuz I can tell the difference from a little girl and a sister,/ She never grew up, her father left her alone/ I promise not to talk like we used to/ until Kingdom Come./ I'm so focused on your future,/ The degradation has passed/ I wish you wealth, health, and insight/ forever young you may pass./ Blue Ivy Carter, my angel."

That's great and all, but I've always wondered why he continued to refer to women as bitches when he started dating Bey. Sure, she's what we'd call a "down-ass bitch", but she's also a classy lady and am surprised she let Hov refer to herself as the "hottest bitch in the game, wearing [his] chain" and the "hot bitch in [his] home." I'm not a women's rights activist, but I guess I'm just old school and believe the word bitch isn't appropriate when referring to a female from a male's mouth.

However, Pink is the New Blog makes a good point, "We cant help but wonder if Jay will censor himself while rockin’ out live to “That’s My BLANK” on stage."

I've always thought Miss Mariah Carey looked better in the remix to Honey than the original.

Jay-Z Releases New Song for Baby Girl Blue

therundown.tv
The power couple releasesd a the following statement today via Hov's blog Life and Times:

Hello Hello Baby Blue!
We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012.
Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven.
She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives.
We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.
Beyoncé & JAY Z

According to the Associated Press, proud papa Jay-z released the song Glory ft. B.I.C. on Life and Times today.
Through a rap verse, Jay-Z has confirmed the birth of "the most beautiful girl in the world" -- his newborn
daughter. Note how the song says featuring B.I.C. That's short for Blue Ivy Carter.
Reps for the superstars repeatedly declined requests for comment from The Associated Press about whether the birth had occurred, as first reported by E! News. But Jay-Z's sweet song gives fans the
details, and more.
In the song, Jay-Z mentions baby Blue being conceived in Paris (wonder if there's any connection to Ni**as in Paris?) and even reveals that Beyonce had a miscarriage at one point.

"Baby, I paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was yo
u, you. Glory…
I wreak havoc on the world, get ready for part two, a younger smarter faster me, so a pinch of Hov, a whole glass of Bey…
Last time, the miscarriage was so tragic. We was afraid you’d disappear but nah, Baby you magic!
So there you have it, shit happens, just make sure the plane you on is bigger than your carry-on baggage.
Everybody goes through stuff, life is a gift, Love, open it up. You’re a child of destiny. You’re the child of my destiny. You’re my child with the child from Destiny’s Child. That’s a hell of a recipe."

The sound of a baby's cries ends the song, which is believed to be the newborn.

Throwback Monday

I've always preferred the remix of this song over the original version.
I miss Dru Hill.

Bey and Jay Finally Have Their Bey-Bay!

Photo: NYDailynews.com

It's the day we've all been waiting for! Beyonce has given birth to Blue Ivy Carter!
I wonder if her middle name has anything to do with her father's Blueprint album?

According to GMA, the couple chose "Ivy" because of the significance of the number "4" or "IV," --  Beyonce and Jay-Z were born on Sept. 4 and Dec. 4, respectively, were married on April 4, 2008, and Beyonce's latest album is entitled 4.)

Beyonce gave birth at New York City’s Lenox Hospital on Saturday night (January 7) with husband Jay-Z by her side.

According to the NY Daily News, "Miss Knowles checked in under the name of Ingrid Jackson with ABC News telling that she arrived at the hospital on Friday night. Doing everything possible to keep the birthing process a private affair, BeyoncĂ© and Jay-Z are said to have shelled out a hefty $1.3 million to rent out the entire fourth floor of Lenox Hospital during their stay - though another hospital source dismissed the claim, saying, “We don’t have entire floors sitting empty at Lenox Hill.”

That is ONE lucky baby girl!

Throwback Monday

For 2012, I'd like to see more Will Smith and less of his children.
Happy New Year with a festive Throwback Monday. When this song came out we were all freaking out about Y2K, now that 2012 is here, some people are counting down to Judgement Day.
