Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere

Wake Forest and Salem Students, or...ganized by Muslim peers, came together to show solidarity with Trayvonn Martin and Shaima Al Awadhi.

It's been a month since the tragic death of 17-year old Trayvon Martin in Florida. The teenager was walking to his father's girlfriend's house after buying some iced tea and skittles at a nearby convenience store when a neighborhood watch volunteer felt Martin was a threat and decided to follow him. George Zimmerman followed Martin and next thing you know, Martin was shot to death. Zimmerman says it was "self-defense", while the country sees it as racism.
To add to the country's hatred to Zimmerman, media pundit Geraldo Rivera claims that if Martin didn't wear a hoodie, he'd still be alive today.
Zimmerman hasn't been arrested and isn't being charged due to the Florida Law, Stand Your Ground.

To add to the chaos, a muslim woman was beaten at her California home last Wednesday and left behind was a note calling her a terrorist and saying she should go back to her country. Shaima Alawadi was found by her 17-year old daughter...in a pool of her own blood. Shaima wore a hijab, an Islamic headscarf. When she received the earlier threatening note, she ignored it, assuming it was a harmless joke, her daughter said to local reporters. Alawadi was pulled from life-support this past Saturday and her killer/s still have not been found.

This seriously sickens me. In 2012, we're still dealing with ignorant people. Hopefully these people did not die in vain and we all use this as a lesson to stand up for justice EVERYWHERE!
